Sunflowers

Sunflowers

Sunflowers are easy-to-grow annuals . Seeds are usually sown indoors from March to April or directly outdoors from late April to May, with plants transplanted outside after the last frost in May or early June. Sunflowers require full sun (6–8 hours daily) and grow best in well-drained, moderately fertile soil, making them ideal for borders and garden features.

Flowering from July to September, sunflowers produce large, bright blooms that attract pollinators and can later provide seeds for wildlife or harvesting. Plants should be spaced 30–60 cm apart depending on their size and watered regularly, especially during dry periods. As frost-tender annuals, they will not survive winter, and taller varieties may need staking to protect them from wind.
