Agastache

Agastache

Agastache is a fragrant, pollinator-friendly perennial that grows well in the climate of the United Kingdom, especially in sunny, well-drained gardens. Seeds are usually sown indoors from February to April or directly outdoors from late April to May, with plants transplanted outside after the last frost in May or June. Agastache thrives in full sun (6–8 hours daily) and prefers light, well-drained soil, making it ideal for borders and wildlife-friendly planting schemes.

Flowering from July to October, agastache produces tall spikes of colourful blooms that attract bees and butterflies throughout the summer. Plants should be spaced 30–45 cm apart and watered regularly while establishing, though they become drought tolerant once mature. Depending on the variety and local conditions, agastache is generally hardy to semi-hardy, benefiting from good drainage and light winter protection in colder or wetter areas.
