Nasturtiums

Nasturtiums

Nasturtiums are bright, cheerful annual flowers that are incredibly easy to grow and perfect for beginners. Ideal for borders, containers, and hanging baskets, nasturtiums provide long-lasting colour throughout the summer.

Nasturtiums are easy-to-grow annual flowers, making them ideal for beginners and low-maintenance gardens. Seeds are typically sown directly outdoors from May to June, although they can be started indoors in April to May. Nasturtiums grow best in full sun to partial shade and prefer well-drained, poorer soil, as overly rich conditions reduce flowering.

Flowering from June to October, nasturtiums produce bright, edible flowers and leaves that add colour and flavour to gardens and salads. Plants should be spaced 25–45 cm apart and watered moderately, as they become fairly drought tolerant once established. As frost-tender annuals, they will not survive winter, but they often self-seed, returning the following year with little effort.
